Dare to Wear: Silence & Noise Pull On Jean

As most of you know by now I’m a loyal follower of the skinny jean cult, and I’m always in the market for a new brand, wash, or detail. Well one of my favorite denim lines Silence and Noise (great for girls with thighs by the way) has put a twist on the skinny jean that well...... frightens me. An elastic waistband is the new twist on the Silence & Noise Light Wash Pull On Jean. I’ve seen this jeans “in the flesh” at Urban Outfitters a couple of times and haven’t even built up the courage to even touch them, let alone try them on. Something about the elastic waistband just makes me think of pregnancy, old lady, or really bad mom jeans. The faux front pocketed pull on "skinnies" do look great on the model ( but what doesn’t look good on a model?), but before I consider adding these to my glorious jean collection, I must try these on….are you brave enough to wear them? Happy Shopping?

Date to Wear: Wild Child Headpiece

Are you a wild child? I guess that’s the question implied by Gold Saturn’s Wild Child Headpiece. I’m not really sure how/when I would wear this but, I’m drawn to this little accessory yet at the same time frightened to actually wear it. What I do love is that I can finally get my hands on a piece of runway fashion. The Wild Child headpiece was definitely inspired by the Spring 09 Diane von Furstenberg. However the headpieces seen on the likes of rising supermodel Chanel Iman aren’t sold anywhere that is until Gold Saturn. By the way these aren’t runway prices 25 dollars for perfectly placed faux flowers on ribbon with an elastic band backing. Are you wild enough to wear it? Happy Shopping!

By the way use discount code 'iheartgoldsaturn' for 20% off your order!

Dare to Wear: Convertible Harem Pants

I absolutely positively hate hammer pants I mean harem pants, but this is a Dare to Wear that may make me change my stripes. The highwaisted/tube top look is adorable, and she is styled perfectly adding to the allure of the convertible harem pant going to show that “clothes don’t make the women” but obviously styling does! I have to give it to Free People you are doing an excellent job in marketing because I just may buy them. Well they are 78 bucks, so I’m definitely going to wait until they go on sale.

Dare to Wear: Cool, Casual the Race Leather Tee

I have to be honest I am a little leery of the Race Leather Tee by Cool, Casual ( a Slow and Steady Wins the Race capsule collection ), this may be the only “dare to wear” that actually scares me a little. My inner rock star is saying I would absolutely wear this, and my inner fashionista, is barking out all these rules regarding this shirt such as “only in the winter when it’s cold”. I guess my inner recessionistas is also speaking to me about this top because it’s $188 and if I decided to take the leap to buy it I would definitely have to wait until it was on sale. Until then I’ll add this baby to my every growing Urban Outfitters wish list.

P.S. If I see anyone wearing this leather shirt (or any other leather top, hat etc) this summer I’m snapping a picture of you and putting you in fashion jail!

Dare to Wear: Silence & Noise Blochy Black Twig Jeans

Something about the Silence & Noise Blotchy Black Twig Jean calls to me. I’m pretty sure it isn’t the 80’s that’s calling to me because these jeans just seem a little more updated than the typical acid wash jeans. I think it’s due to the fact that when I saw them I immediately though about Balmain’s much raved about SS09 denim. These are clearly a daring pair of jeans to wear, and you would have to exude a level of “these aren’t 80’s these are freaking fashion” attitude. The bonus to them is that Silence and Noise denim complements ladies with “thighs” who aren’t stick thin. I’m pretty sure I’m daring enough to wear them…are you? Happy Shopping!

KORS Michael Kors Slicker High Heel Duck Boot

Click Picture for more info

I’m sorry I just don’t know why I do but I do I love the KORS Michael Kors Slicker High Heel Duck Boot! I know they are a little weird looking, and kinda reminiscent to the Malono Blanik “Timberland” style boot of the early 2000’s, but I’m drawn to them. I never knew I had a love for rugged, outdoorsy fashion. does They are also on sale (regular $295 sale $147.50)

Dare to Wear: light burst zip ankle leggings

I admit it some of the things that I think are cute are a little out there, just ask my mom ( she reads my blog so she is going to love her shout out!). Of course these light burst zip ankle leggings are no exception, even though I put them in a “dare to wear” post they are only 14.80 and if there was any price point to take a risk at 14.80 is that price point. These leggings have all the elements that make them fashionable, fun, edgy and obviously daring.

Dare to Wear: Costume Dept. Leggings

Okay I know this post is going to show how obsessed I have become with all things leggings. Costume Dept. is now feeding my obsession with its line of pattered, shiny, and even patterned and shiny leggings. With no celeb designer, and fairly new roots in the fashion industry, Costume Dept has managed to bring a new flair to the leggings trend by playing up the print factor. Costume Dept is primarily made of dead stock fabric from the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s which means it’s keeping it’s carbon footprint small ( eco friendly yes) and means each leggings stock is limited edition( sold out really means sold out) clearly setting them apart from any other brand. The eccentric line will also leave a small cash footprint with prices ranging from $33 to $80 dollars ( depending on the rarity of the fabric). There aren't any stores in the Bay Area that carry this line yet, but if you’re bold enough to wear an ethnic themed bold print leggings ( I know I am) you can pick up a pair or two at costumedept.com or support me and Costume Dept. and pick them up at my online store.

Dare to Wear: Eye Heart Glasses

So I’m in the market for a new pair of eyeglasses, when I come across a pair that I can't seem to take my eyes off. I told you about the cute little heart shaped sunglasses they carry at Topshop and Urban outfitters before, but these aren’t sunglasses but something a little more risky in terms of fashion. I know they are a little much for daily wear (the looks I would get at work would be classic) but I can’t help but think these would be great for a weekend change up. I found the Eye Heart Glasses at Nasty Gal a brand spanking new ( they opened last week) online Vintage Boutique that I can’t wait to see more from i.e. they have a new clothes coming soon. But back to the glasses, I really wish I could be more daring.....if you are you better move fast, this is a vintage item (unworn) and therefore limited quantities are available! If I do get them I’ll let you know the look on my Optometrist face when I ask her to fill them with my prescription!

Dare to Wear: Members Only Rubber Leggings

I was feeling daring today, therefore it’s all about “Dare to Wear” fashions! I knew Members Only was updating their 80’s image with a line of Leather Jackets (which I love by the way). But who knew they were going to really step out of the eighties and into the new millennium with even more with the addition of clothes, and the recent introduction of their rubber leggings. I’m sure Kova &T ( love this line) are shaking in their boots, and Mary Kate Olsen has bought several pair, because the Members Only version of the “leather look” leggings are only $88 bucks ( yes that's cheap compared) at Urban Outfitters or Revolve Clothing. If you’re bold enough to wear them then this is a great find!

Update: I am now carrying a simlar version of the liquid legging made by Tripp NYC, priced at 60 dollars at my new online store

P.S. Yes, Rihanna apparently loves them!

Dare to Wear: Scarlett High Platform Shoe

I have not the slightest idea why I love this shoe, but I just do. Don’t fret I have not purchased them because lets face it I would have absolutely no place to wear a black/ hot pink platformed pump. I know when you first look at the Scarlett High Platform Shoe it screams stripper shoe, but if you sit and look it starts whispering style icon, risk taker, fashonista. What’s funny is the shoe is kind of on trend since wacky superhero look has been on the rise since the Costume Institutes Superhero exhibit (May 08). For those of you bold enough to wear this shoe I commend you and wish I had half of your fashion guts.

B.A. Style File Update: LnA Zipper Leggings

Remember the Dare to Wear from March? How can you forget the LnA Zipper Leggings, well they are now available at shopbop and the views of the leggings are much better ( although the styling with the flip flops is bad) and better yet they are 11 dollars cheaper. So if you’re ready to jump off the fashion ledge pick them up here.

Dare to Wear: Lindsay’s Leggings

Now information is trickling in from all over the internet in regards to the Lindsay Lohan legging line. Apparently she has decided to try her hand at a clothing line yet her line will focus strictly on leggings ( weird yet cool). I’m still on the fence as many of you are on the highly contested “leggings” as pants debate. I’m not totally against them, yet I’m not sure if they are a mass market type of item either (so much can go wrong). Hell lets just be honest, “we” are afraid we are going to look a fat hot mess in them! Rumor is and as the picture indicates the line includes a variety of styles and colors including one similar to the LnA Zippered ones. Regardless of what is going on in this girls life I kind of like her personal style and I hope that she extends the line of just leggings to a full clothing line. I’ll reserve further judgment on the leggings until I get to see the entire line.

By the way out of all the info that has saturated the net , I haven’t found the lines name....more to come!

Dare to Wear: Sweet Heart Sunglasses

photo cred: Urban Outfitters

No, I’m not paying homage to St. Valentine I just think these Sweet Heart Sunglasses are so damn cute! Yeah they won’t be everyone’s style because they are a little too hipster and that’s exactly why they are a dare to wear. Don’t lie when you saw Nicole Richie strutting in her Anglo American version of the heart glasses you thought “they are kinda of cute, but I could never wear them”. Well now you can wear them minus the $255 Nicole Richie version price tag pick them up at Urban Outfitters for 16 bucks!

Dare to Wear: LA Girl FLARE Bright Nail Polish

phot cred: LA Girl Cosmetics

Okay so this weeks beauty find is also a pretty cheap way to try out a new beauty trend for your nails. It’s spring and of course color is going to be all the rage, this year it’s just punched up a notch with neon. LA Girl FLARE Bright Nail Polish has given you a chance to try this trend and make a move away from the dark tones ( which I still love too) with little regret due to the 4 dollar price tag which is clearly a steal. A perfect example of how to wear this trend is how Rihanna did during her Grammy apperance with her neon orange nails and perfect Electric Blue Zac Posen dress. I know some of you are sitting there thinking I’m not 20 and I’m not Rihanna well neither am I, but I’m still wearing LA Girl's “tropical” color on my toes. If you don’t want to order online, you can pick up selected colors in store at Urban Outfitters for 5 dollars.

Dare to Wear: LnA Zipper Leggings

Many of you loathe them and some of you can’t live without them yes I’m talking about leggings the most argued about “comeback” fashion of the past couple years. As we have seen in some of the Fall 08 runway shows the 80’s inspired trend hasn’t yet died out and what’s more 80’s than leggings? Well LnA has put a new spin on the old uh, new legging trend with the addition of some well placed hardware the ankle zipper (somewhere Tim Gunn is screaming). I for one don’t like the leggings as pants look yet the addition of something as simple as this zipper has moved my view a bit and made them more pants worthy. I could see myself wearing this rocker chic look for a night out with an oversized off the shoulder tee or a very long tunic (no booty peeks). If you’re ready to take this fashion risk you can get your pricey pair ($110 a pop) at Singer22.
