Accessory Find of the Week: Asymmetrical Straw Cloche

For some reason I have switched my accessory fetish from statement necklaces to hats, I just purchased a chic yet cheap one from For Love 21 (the Forever 21 accessories store). I just happened to be perusing the Urban Outfitters website as I do daily when I came across another wonderful topper. This Asymmetrical Straw Cloche is fabulous, and you don’t even need a bad hair day as an excuse to wear it. It’s chic, with a little dash of masculine/feminine play, and will actually dress up an outfit. It’s also made of papers straw which means it will breathe a bit for this up coming warm months, and protect your “do” from the spring rain. HAPPY SHOPPING!

Accessory Find of the Week: Kimchi Blue Tie Dye Clutch

Kimchi Blue does it again with another fabulous Tie Dye Clutch that I must have. This one is a little bigger than the previous version (which I have and love by the way) that I featured and also has a strap. Now I know some of you opened the link and saw the 68 dollar price tag, but it is leather, and for the size and the fun tie dye print this bag looks like its worth a lot more, and I’m sure some big name designer would sale this bag for at least a thousand dollars (which is ridiculous). Regardless of the way you decided to wear it (strap/strapless), or what color you choose (coral or black) this bag will transition easily between seasons and add a little spice to any outfit!

Accessory Find of the Week: Dandelion Weekender

Remember when The Sak was just a plain old crochet “fisherman” bag well as times change companies do and The Sak has become much much more…seriously they even have leather bags now. I actually didn’t really notice that it had become much more until I was flipping through People Style Watch and came across the Dandelion Weekender the most adorable overnight/gym/baby/oversized bag I have ever seen. The bag is adorned with all things peaceful (doves, the actual word Peace) and touched with just enough splashes of colors to make it the must have for the upcoming summer. Now for the bad part, this bag is pre-order only, and won’t be available to tote around until early June. HAPPY SHOPPING!

Accessory Find of the Week: Santana Bag

I have to admit I am addicted to clutches, and I also admit that they are sometimes a hassle since you have to carry them in your hand. I decided for the upcoming warm spring days that I’ll be wearing the Santana bag, it’s petite and fairly thin like most clutches making it a winner in my book. What makes the Santana bag even better is it has a wonderful long braided “crossbody” style strap perfect for a day of shopping or when you're just on the go and have no time to hold a clutch or to lug a big bag around. The little design on the front flap is just too cute for words, and adds a little extra pizazz to an already wonderful bag, you can order yours at http://www.lulus.com/. Happy shopping!

Accessory Find of the Week: Flowers and Pendants Mulitchain Necklace

This is one of the most talked about pieces of jewelry that I have ever worn, and it’s not from some fancy upscale store, or a high end department store, but from Express. I wore this necklace this past weekend for my b-day, and it was a hit! I was drawn to this oversized, funky, on trendy, statement necklace and had to have it even though I personally thought the 59.50 price tag is a little hefty (lucky for me I had a gift certificate). The Flowers and Pendants Multichain necklace has everything that you can imagine in various pieces of jewelry, silk flowers, rhinestones, gold, silver, hematite, brass, brooches all in one spot. I also love that the clasp is adjustable so you can wear as a choker or a longer necklace. I wore it with a dress, but I can’t wait to wear it with a plain old v neck tee and some jeans for a casual night out for drinks. Happy Shopping!

Accessory Find of the Week: Metal Floral Cluster Necklace

Spring is definitely in the air, well actually it’s a slight chill in the air but as far as fashion is concerned it’s time for spring. H&M of course got their spring memo, because they designed this gorgeous metal floral cluster necklace that I love. This little baby packs a whole lot of look with gold, faux pearls, faux gems, enamel flowers and jeweled butterflies. This statement piece necklace will make any little black dress a show stopper, and upgrade any jeans and tee look. And since it’s H&M you don’t have to take out a second mortgage on your house to own it, it’s just 19.90. Unfortunately H&M still doesn’t have an online store (boooo hiss), and of course all their selections aren’t available at all locations so you may have to search for this item…… HAPPY SHOPPING!

Accessory Find of the Week: Printed Clutch

No one loves a clutch purse more than me ….NO ONE! I love them so much that I have friends that let me know the “it” places to find them, so imagine my glee when I came across the Kimchi Blue Printed Clutch at Urban Outfitters. It’s printed cotton, so those of you who don’t believe in wearing skins will be happy about this find. The bag brings more than just my love for clutches to the table, the print gives the flat cotton lots of texture, and the neutral color choice is perfect you can wear it with everything. The bag comes in black tie dye and blue tie dye; they are a little too similar for me to buy both (I’m hoping for more colors) so I’m going with the black tie dye on this one. Happy Shopping!

Accessory Find of the Week: Zoe Split Sunglasses

Yeah I know it’s winter, but I live in the Bay Area and it was actually warm last Friday, and we all know the sun will occasionally come out during California “winters”. That being said I of course couldn't resist the spectacular Zoe Split Sunglasses from American Apparel. Talk about shades of Mary Kate Olsen * cough* Chanel clearly making these glasses for the brave fashionista. The darkest part of the lens is insanely dark so don’t plan on doing any extensive driving in them, these little babies are all about fashion not function and isn't that sometimes how we like it? I have to say with the economy they are a little pricey at $75 bucks, but the frames are optical quality, and the lens style is unique and compared to the throw away 18 buck sunglasses and the designer brand sunglasses that are up to 200 dollars plus this is a happy medium.

Accessory Find of the Week: Cynthia H Designs Message Bracelet

I first saw the Cynthia H Designs message bracelets at one of my favorite sites splendora.com, and I was immediately drawn to them. SoCal's own Cynthia Holvey recently introduce her line of inspirational bracelets engraved with sayings such as “Live, Laugh, Love”," Love Who You Are”, “Live in the Moment”, “Make a Difference”, and “Positive Energy”. What I love best about the bracelets is that while they are inspirational they aren’t sappy the designs are strong, and edgy so the girly girl who will probably love the mini message bracelet which offers a more petite version of the original, the edgy girl who will enjoy the size of the original and even the conscious chick who will love the eco bracelet that is made of organic cotton and recycled metal can all find an inspirations bracelet to call their own. Hollywood also loves these bracelets they have been seen on the arms of Olivia Wilde (House), Stephanie Pratt aka She Pratt (The Hills), Samantha Harris ( E! and Dancing with the stars), as well as Frankie Delgado (The Hills), Ryan Bailey ( Olympian), Dave Annabel (Brothers and Sisters ) oh I forgot to mention they have men’s versions too. I guess my favorite Hollywood wearer of the Cynthia H. message bracelet is Christina Applegate who received one when she underwent treatment for breast cancer, and the people behind the scenes at Cynthia H were nice enough to gift me one which I gave to my mother who is also a recent breast cancer survivor. Regardless of if you’re giving this bracelet as a gift to inspire, or you want one for yourself as a personal daily affirmation I highly suggest this wonderful line. Bay Area Ladies you can pick up yours at All About Me in Pleasanton, Calypso Twist in Walnut Creek, Just Because in San Francisco, and Queen Bee in Lafayette or of course online.

Accessory Find of the Week: Fine Jersey Circular Scarf

Remember a couple years back Mary-Kate, and Ashley made the eternity scarf so famous, well it’s back! I’ve seen them at Urban Outfitters and little hole in the wall shops, but the one I love the most is the one by American Apparel. The Fine Jersey Circular Scarf is fun, casual, and cotton jersey which equals no itchy neck for those who are sensitive to wool and cheap acrylic! This scarf is especially great for the Bay Area lady, since it doesn’t get terribly cold during the winter the cotton jersey acts as the perfect lightweight removable turtleneck to add to any winter wardrobe. The scarf is available in the timeless colors of black, grey ( slate), and navy and are prices at 28 bucks a piece.

P.S. It’s unisex, so you can buy your guy one for the holidays and just steal it from him :D

Accessory Find of the Week: Marketa New York Neckware

I was contacted by Marketa Psenickova of Marketa New York, and what she had to show me was simply amazing. I’m sure all of us own at least one scarf that we wear with almost everything in the winter regardless of color. Well Marketa New York has one up’d the plain scarf and even the plain necklace with her Lariat Cowls, Scarflettes, and leather necklaces. Each one is a look at me type piece oozing with originality and on the edge of Fall 08’s bold neckwear trend. Prague born Marketa found her inspiration and passion for design while at FIT and began her Marketa New York line with equally wonderful handbags that like the neckwear are all made by hand in her New York Studio. The line of neckwear just launched in August 2008 so you’ll likely be the first lady on your block with one, prices range from $65-$305 so pick up yours now!

Accessory Find of the Week: Dirty Librarian Chains

Let me just start off by saying, I’m not always a girl who follows trends even though this site sometimes isn’t always telling of that fact. One trend I do think is great is the layering of chains that I have seen popping up all over the place. It started with Subversive for Target, and even Express has gotten in on it with a layered chain necklace, but I have to say I don’t think anyone is doing it better than Dirty Librarian Chains. Yes, you saw it right Dirty Librarian (love the name don’t you). Dirty Librarian came from the mind of designer Susan Domelsmith who had become tired of the dainty, frilly, ho-hum jewelry that was available. Even thought the line has matured it is now much like it was when Susan was making necklaces just for herself. The line consist of reworked vintage costume jewelry giving the eco friendly ladies something to cheer about and ladies who like one of a kind pieces happy as well ( each piece is made to order). I have to say my two favorite pieces are the Barcode Bracelet (pictured) that screams rocker chic ( a trend that I have been on before it was trendy) and the Dewy Sunglass Chain (pictured) which I’m thinking of wearing with my regular glasses. Here’s the kicker, while doing research on line I stumbled across DL by Dirty Librarian at one my regular stomping grounds Urban Outfitters . DL by Dirty Librarian is made from the leftover mismatched vintage trinkets from the high end line (who knew left overs could look that good). Oh the joy for a lady on a budget the selection for the DL line is currently sparse (only two items) but the look is similar to the high end line and the price is right at over half the cost. So if you’re a budget fashionista or a style diva with some extra cash you can find something wonderful in the Dirty Librarian line(s).

Coming soon and interview with Susan Domelsmith

Accessory Find of the Week: Shiny Stirrup Tights

I may have mislabeled these gems, because American Apparel’s Shiny Stirrup Tights are much more than an accessory. What better way to be on the cutting edge of the hosiery trend for fall ( because tights are back) by adding the twist of stirrups and some shimmer. I personally love the red which are just stunning, the black is a staple, and the royal blue well they are mesmerizing. The tights would look prefect accompanying those open toe booties you have or have been lusting after, or even the open toed oxfords that are becoming so popular. And how can I forget the shimmer that highlights the tights which makes it a no brainer for nighttime wear. There are 11 colors (so far) to choose from and they are priced at $14.00 dollars so what are you waiting for?

Accessory Find of the Week: Feather Necklaces by Miss KK

Rumor is big bold “statement” necklaces are on their way in as far as trends in fashion are concerned. Although the Peacock feather necklace ($68 ) doesn’t give you that heavy look, it does come across as bold, and is definitely a statement piece. Each necklace is handmade by the designer “miss kk” and each features a 30” chain with star charms and of course feathers. Miss KK also designed two more feather necklaces one in Brown/Black, and the other in Turquoise and White (both $76 each). So if you want to add an unique and bold piece of jewelry to your collection without adding weight resulting in bad posture check out the flair section at Bona Drag .

Accessory Find of the Week: Zulasurfing Druzy Ring

I am currently falling for some of the jewelry designers at Etsy which is home to designers of crafts and handmade items. My current favorite is Zulasurfing Jewelry and well to be honest nothing about their work says "craft project". I was loving the designs so much that it took me a while to decide if I even wanted to share this with you guys, this was one I was dying to keep for myself. Alas my readers are important to me so I couldn't’t keep this “gem” a secret. My favorites are the Zulasurfing Druzy Rings, even though there are multiple rings to choose from and many look similar each one is unique and hand crafted so you have your own piece of one of a kind jewelry for 58.00 dollars. I’m now the proud owner of the wonderful lavender ring pictured and I can’t wait to show it off, you however have to purchase your own unique treasure at Zulasurfing Jewelry. You can also check them out at their non-Etsy site http://www.zulasurfing.com/

Accessory Find of the Week: BRadleyBB

Let me first say thank you to Fashionista for turning me on to BRadleyBB at Etsy. The year old shop is a wonderful and quirky little place that has the cutest, orginal, and one of kind style accessories. I ended up buying the last of the 3 pairs of earrings (1 pair pictured) and each where just 4 dollars a piece. All items at BRadleyBB are really reasonable with the most expensive item priced at 20 dollar. So if you’re interested in a piece of jewelry that is a real conversation starters, just plain old fun, as well as wallet friendly check out BRadleyBB as well as other Etsy vendors.

Accessory Find of the Week: Flower Corsage

photo cred: Topshop

Yesterday's post was all about how we can’t just wear everything our favorite fictional fashionsista wears. Well today is all about how you can wear a floral brooch on your favorite top or dress. Topshop has a small selection of corsages ranging from £6.00 to £12.00 pounds. For those of us not wanting to wait for our faux flower to ship from across the pond then you can also easily slip in to any local Michaels and pick up a faux flower snip the steam get a hot glue gun and attach a brooch backing( or just safety pin it) and there you go your very own DIY “Carrie” brooch. Best yet, Topshop has a really cute one shoulder dress ( pictured) that will help you pull the look together.

Accessory Find of the Week: Street Roger Belt

photo cred: ShopIntuition and HBO Films

The saga of getting Carrie’s SATC movie look continues with the belt she wore so chicly around the waist of some of the most stylish dresses. Unfortunately the one she wore in the movie was vintage and the good thing is designers have been scrambling to make an inspired- by look. Streets Ahead beat out all of the competitors by being the first to recreate the studded belt. The Street Roger belt is pretty much an exact replica of the belt worn in the movie a it's a little pricey at $198 a lot more than I pay for a belt. I also found out just yesterday from a fabulous friend ( stylemaven ) that works at Seen On that now Patricia Field has a replica of the belt and of course it’s a tad bit cheaper at $150. So if you want to add a little edge to your feminine look you can purchase your belt directly from Streets Ahead by filling out this order form or by vistiting patrciafield.com. If you’re unlucky and it’s sells out at the two places mention you can also buy it at Shop Intuition but, for some reason the price has been elevated to $250 and you have to wait until August to get you hands on it.
